The first cashier of First National Bank was James E. Barnett, with William Adcock and Theodore Forbes as early bookkeepers. After 50 years with the bank, William C. Lindsay retired as cashier in 1996. Michael Stout is the bank's current cashier.

Fred B. Oney, president from 1960 to 1983, was also president of Kentucky Bankers Association in 1975 and served two terms as director for the Louisville Branch of the Federal Reserve. The current Board of Directors is:

The First National Bank's first location was 422 Main Street. In 1966 a new bank building was built at the present site of 604 Highland Avenue, and in 1998 a branch was constructed at 2639 Highway 227.

In December 1998 shareholders of The First National Bank approved a reorganization and the forming of a new one bank holding company resulting in The First National Bank becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Port William Bancshares, Inc.
